Q How do I start MidasBooks?
A The best way to begin is to sign up for the FREE Trial service. Then, we'll give you as much free online training as you want, in order to get you up and running very easily

Q Is my data secure?
A Absolutely. Your data is kept totally secure at all times. We also back up your data at a secure location off site. We are also registered under the Data Protection Act.

Q Can I transfer my bookkeeping to you part way through the year?
A Of course. It is very easy to do.

Q How come you're so much cheaper than other online Accounting sites?
A Usually because we deal solely with self employed people. This is a specialist area that we know really well. Other accounting sites deal with VAT, payrolls, Ltd Companies etc, so they need to charge more. They have bigger overheads!

Q What happens if I haven't kept all my receipts for things like petrol?
A We will help you sort it all out, so don't worry

Q Is the Taxman interested in what is after all just a bit of pin money that I earn on the side?
A Everyone's circumstances are different. For peace of mind, you need to present us with the facts, and let us establish the correct answer for you

Q Do I need to download any software?
A No - everything is done online, and is stored on a secure server. Many software programs that are stored on home or office PC's are vulnerable to data loss through theft, or computer crashes. And with software, we cannot really see what you are doing in real time.

Q How do I pay?
A By Standing Order to your bank. You can cancel at any time - there is no contract or commitment

Q Will all the information I have entered be lost at the end of the Free Trial?
A We give you a period of time to make up your mind, then we delete the records. With so many people taking out the trial offer, we like to keep our site nice and tidy.

Q Can I use your program if I have several streams of income?
A Yes, of course

Q Is it easy to use your program?
A Very easy indeed. It was designed with the layman in mind - someone who perhaps has never even done bookkeeping before. Don't be fooled by it's simplicity though - it is a very powerful program

Q Will you do backdating?
A Yes, we will go back up to 5 years if you want us to.

Q What if I want to do my books on your site, but want my accountant to do my return?
A No problem - just print off your records from your members area and give them to your accountant

Q Will I get into trouble with the Inland Revenue if I have been running my part time self employed business and haven't registered as self employed with the Tax Office?
A You normally have to register within 3 months of beginning your self employment. And there are many occasions where we can help you to avoid a fine if you come clean'. So the sooner you begin, the better!

Q Do you do my tax return as well?
A Yes - it is included in the small monthly fee

Q Are you good at what you do?

Q Are you regulated by anyone?
A Apart from conforming to all the normal rules that all business have to adhere to, we are registered under the Data Protection Act. We are also official Registered Agents for HMRC (most know it as the Inland Revenue). So you are in safe and experienced hands

Q How do I access my accounts?
A Your bookkeeping information is stored on a secure site that can only be accessed using your unique password. All you need is a computer and Internet access. You can then view your accounts 24/7, every day of the year, and from anywhere in the world

Q Will you be there to help me?
A We can be reached through various different methods - telephone, e-mail, and real time online support (this is available every weekday morning) We will also give you totally free online training any time you want it.

Q If I want to cancel, how do I do it?
A The first month is totally free, and you can cancel simply by e-mailing us. Once you have set up a Standing Order with your bank, and you subsequently wish to cancel, just telephone your bank. They will tear up the Standing Order. There is no contract. We do not like services where you have to jump through hoops to cancel because you no longer require it. With us, it is very simple.

Q How do I get my tax documents to you?
A As a MidasBooks user, you can either fax, scan and e-mail, or post any documents to us. In fact, you can upload them directly to your members area

Q Do you offer any help with tax investigations etc?
A Ask about our Tax Inspection Protection service. For a small fee, your fees for any work we do on your behalf (in a full tax year) is covered by this service. Furthermore, our team of specialists include ex Tax Inspectors, former HMRC employees, Chartered Accountants etc. so we can put you in touch with the right specialist according to the situation you find yourself in

Q Do you run any kind of affiliate program?
